When you think about the fact that the castle was actually just a large ruin after the fire in 2013, you are extremely impressed by how great it is there now!!! You should definitely also visit the museum - and otherwise take in the entire palace complex - including the palace park.
A visit to the castle is highly recommended. From the roof to the ground floor it is a gem and a real insider tip. There is an exhibition on finds in the Muschelkalk and the dinosaur era. The former Ohrdruf businesses and manufactured goods are on display and there is an exhibition on Johann Sebastian Bach. The highlight is the film about the history of the city in the Cube Magicus. Absolutely worth seeing!!! The giant rocking horse (also for adults) is also unique. The 12 euro entrance fee is absolutely worth it!
Very beautifully restored castle complex. In summer the outdoor areas are certainly beautifully planted. We were here in winter. No visitors. Like the whole place, pretty desolate. Although the castle is so wonderfully restored.
It is simply unbelievable the quality of the renovation of the castle. 🤔 You can see that everything must have been harmonious and well thought out, from the preparation and planning to the execution and the final brush stroke. 😉 A real experience for the visitor, which they take note of with pleasure and joy. The EHRENSTEIN Castle in my hometown of Ohrdruf in Thuringia was rebuilt after the fire. The damage was extensive but the result is impressive. Very well restored. The beautifully landscaped park is also impressive. It really invites you to relax.
